Summer Internship The AASD is once again offering 2 summer internships to high school students. Mile of Music Summer Internship and Appleton Downtown Inc. Summer Internship. Both internships involve planning, organizing and marketing various community projects including the Mile of Music! Students engaged in either internship will have the opportunity to network with community members and will acquire skills needed in future careers. Internships look amazing on a college application and are sure to stand out on your resume. Registration Forms for either summer internship can be picked up in guidance or in the school store. Applications are due May 18th to Mrs. Dechant. If you have questions about the Mile of Music Internship, please contact Mrs. Dechant via email or in person in room 1101.  

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund supports the millions of children, adults and families challenged by type 1 diabetes (T1D) every single day. It requires constant carbohydrate counting, blood-glucose testing and lifelong dependence on injected insulin. Students from Appleton North and East have teamed together to raise awareness and participate in the One Walk held at Riverside Park in Neenah on May 21st. They need your help to not only raise funds but to join their walk team to support JDRF research. Come show your support during your lunch on April 27th -29th in the commons! You can buy bracelets for $1, order a t-shirt for $10, or sign-up to participate in the walk.

All seniors interested in attending Fox Valley Technical College are invited and encouraged to attend a Senior Explore Day. The Explore Day is set for Tuesday, May 10th from 3pm to 6 pm at FVTC. The registration form is available in the counseling office. Please complete the form and return to Mrs. Christopher ASAP. Refreshments will be provided.

Dear Students/Mother’s Day: Do you know what’s coming up on May 10th? Mother’s Day! Don’t wait till the last minute to buy a gift. The Garden Club will be selling four packs of starter Marigolds and Zinas for your Mother/Grandmother. Every two minutes someone is injured in a drunk driving crash.  Every 51 minutes, someone is killed in a drunk driving accident.  That amounts to 196 human lives lost each and every week.  To illustrate these tragic statistics, officers from the Appleton Police Department will be knocking on doors today and removing student volunteers from the classrooms at North.  The officers will read a brief obituary of the student’s life and the volunteer student will return to class with his or her face painted white to illustrate one life lost as a result of drunken driving.  The students will not display emotion for the rest of the school day—each symbolizing one of those killed.  As we approach Prom tomorrow, please remember the lives lost and the choices that you can make to save them.
