Choir excited to perform annual Wintersong concert

Appleton North has been putting on this concert for three years and it has always been a staple in the community. The concert involves the seven different choirs, ranging from freshman to seniors, conducted by Luke Aumann and Marie Putman. Within the past three years, they have drifted from the traditional Christmas theme and have begun to focus on bringing different cultures and holiday festivities into the concert to appeal to several audiences.“When programming concerts, we always try to bring a very diverse perspective to the theme.” Aumann says, “In the case of Wintersong, we try to show many different viewpoints of the Winter season. This includes many sacred and secular songs that capture the wonder, joy, and sometimes melancholy that comes with the season.” Aumann continues by saying, “My favorite song this year is always a tough one to choose. Christmas Time Is Here from a Charlie Brown Christmas is the soundtrack to my Winter so far, Kaval Sviri is unlike anything else in the concert, the performance of the Varsity Bass choir’s Wedding Qawwali is really impressing me right now, and Christmastide is always powerful.” Aumann, Putman, and their students have been preparing for this concert for a while and are incredibly excited to share their classes’ talents with you. When asked if he had anything to say to those interested in attending the concert, Aumann said, “First off, I’d remind students that they can use their activity passes to get a free ticket – just come early to the show and present your activity pass to the box office volunteers, they will get you a ticket. Second, I would ask that all people attending leave their cares and concerns at the door and enjoy the beautiful evening in store for them.”

Tuesday, December 4th, is the first day tickets can be purchased online. The benefits of purchasing tickets online (to be purchased with your credit card) are that you will be able to check the availability of seats for each performance, choose your tickets, pay for the tickets immediately, and print your tickets. Adult tickets are $10.00 and students/senior citizens are $8.00. Tickets are also available in the Box Office from 3:30-4:40 PM Monday through Thursday.
