Following their win from the previous weekend’s non-conference tournament, the Appleton United Boys Hockey team came out strong last Tuesday night, Nov. 29, against the NHM Rockets.

Along with the game being AU’s first Conference game, it was also their first home game. AU came out victorious 3-2  against the Rockets with the game finishing early in the first over-time period.

Ben Thomas (Appleton North) led the game by putting up the first goal early in the first period. Erik Bargholtz (Appleton North) again led the AU team with scoring another goal in the second period making the score 2-0.

NHM tied the game in the third period resulting in a sudden death overtime. Thomas quickly scored in the over-time period for his second goal of the game resulting in a AU victory.

Connor Zilisch (Appleton North) and Thomas both agreed despite their victory, there were things the team needed to work on. “We have plenty of things to improve on,” Thomas said, “but a few things we can improve on is our offensive zone presence and our puck movement.”

The Appleton United Boys look to gain another victory this Saturday. Dec. 3 against Arrowhead.
