Twenty Appleton North Students competed in the Junior Achievement Business Challenge hosted by the UW-Oshkosh School of Business this past Wednesday, March 22.
This was a career based learning opportunity where students were able to engage with business leaders and, through a simulation, manage a manufacturing company.
Teams of two students were paired with a business leader and the three spent the day managing a company on a computer.
At the end of the day, two of Appleton North’s very own – Henry Ptacek and Andrew Wilks – took first place, each winning $1,000 scholarships. Jadin Cross and Katie Lamers, also from North, took second, each winning $750 scholarships.
“I thought it was a really interesting experience,” said Senior Maddy Kapheim. “Everyone that won was from Appleton which was kinda cool. It really didn’t matter if everyone had a background in marketing or business. It was just a cool experience for everyone.”
